Qui êtes-vous?
I’ve been in the book trade since September 1979. I first started
working for a local book store, Classic Book, in that year and found that it
ended up being a 6 year «apprenticeship» for what became my professional
career in bookselling. By 1986 I started producing mail order catalogs
full-time and continued until the late 1990s after issuing over 140 different
book catalogs. My main speciality had been Mystery First Editions, Vintage
Paperbacks, and Science-Fiction books. As time went by, I added Travel
literature, Naval & Military History and eventually Children’s &
Illustrated books. I had collected Children’s Books for over 20 years and
decided to make this subject which I personally enjoyed a priority.
As to «outside interests», I have always enjoyed camping, mountain
hiking, fishing and outdoor pursuits including archery and amateur target
shooting.

Le nom et l’historique de votre librairie.
I’ve been full time bookseller since 1986 and have
worked from home in Montreal since then. As with many booksellers today, my
main business is done on the internet with my participation in the occasional
Book Fair.
Comment entrevoyez-vous l’avenir du livre.
I believe the «future of books» is assured. Book
reading and collecting has been around for at least 500 years and will continue
as long as we read the written word. The remarkably recent introduction of the
internet has probably been the greatest single factor in increasing the
availability of books on a truly global scale. I sometimes wonder where my next
customer will be from! I can now say I’ve sold books from Australia to Japan,
Sweden to Spain, Brazil to Mexico and all over North America. Somehow all the
«traveling» that the books I buy and sell just seems appropriate to our current
global village. Our planet had recently gotten a lot smaller…
